San Juan Islands Sculpture Park

The trails and paths that lead to the sculptures. You can walk your pet on a leash or let them run free, as long as they are under your control and do not disturb other visitors or wildlife.

The picnic area and the pavilion. You can bring your own food and drinks, or buy some from the park's snack bar. You can also use the restrooms and water fountains that are available for humans and pets alike.

The pet grooming station. This is where Pawgo comes in handy. We have a team of professional groomers who can take care of your pet's needs, such as washing, brushing, trimming, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and more. You can choose from a variety of services and packages that suit your budget and preferences. You can also browse our selection of pet products and accessories that we sell at our shop.

The sculptures themselves. Please respect the artists' work and do not let your pet climb on, scratch, or damage the sculptures in any way.

The pond and the wetland area. These are sensitive habitats for many aquatic plants and animals, and they need to be protected from pollution and disturbance.

The children's playground. This is a designated area for kids to have fun and play safely. Pets are not allowed here for hygiene and safety reasons.

Always clean up after your pet. There are trash cans and poop bags provided throughout the park for your convenience.

Always keep an eye on your pet. Do not let them wander off or get lost in the park.

Always follow the park rules and regulations. They are posted at the entrance and throughout the park for your information.

Always be courteous and respectful to other visitors and staff. If your pet causes any trouble or inconvenience to others, please apologize and take responsibility.

Douglas fir: This is the dominant tree species in the park, forming a dense canopy that provides shade and shelter for many animals.

Western red cedar: This is another common tree species in the park, known for its aromatic wood and bark that has been used by Native Americans for various purposes.

Salal: This is a low-growing shrub that produces white or pink flowers in spring and dark purple berries in fall. The berries are edible and have been used by Native Americans as food and medicine.

Sword fern: This is a large fern that grows in moist and shady areas. It has long fronds that resemble swords, hence its name.

Nootka rose: This is a wild rose that grows in sunny and open areas. It has pink flowers that attract bees and butterflies, and red hips that provide food for birds and mammals.

Black-tailed deer: These are the most common mammals in the park, often seen grazing on grasses and shrubs. They are usually shy and timid, but can become aggressive during mating season or when protecting their young.

Eastern cottontail: These are small rabbits that have brown fur and a white tail. They are active mostly at dawn and dusk, feeding on grasses and herbs. They are preyed upon by coyotes, hawks, and owls.

Bald eagle: These are large raptors that have a white head and tail, and a brown body. They are the national symbol of the United States, and can be seen soaring high in the sky or perching on trees. They feed mainly on fish, but also hunt small mammals, birds, and reptiles.

Great blue heron: These are tall wading birds that have a blue-gray plumage and a long neck and bill. They can be found near the pond and the wetland area, where they fish for frogs, fish, and insects. They nest in colonies on trees or cliffs.

Anna's hummingbird: These are tiny birds that have a metallic green body and a red throat. They are the only hummingbirds that stay in the park year-round, feeding on nectar from flowers and insects. They can hover in mid-air and fly backwards, making them agile and acrobatic.
