History

The Willis Tower was built between 1970 and 1973 as the headquarters of Sears, Roebuck and Co., the largest retailer in the world at the time. The tower was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and was originally named Sears Tower. It was the tallest building in the world until 1998, when it was surpassed by the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia. In 2009, the tower was renamed Willis Tower after Willis Group Holdings, a global insurance broker that leased a portion of the building. The tower has 110 floors and stands at 1,450 feet (442 meters) tall. It has more than 4.5 million square feet (418,000 square meters) of office and retail space, and is home to more than 100 companies.

Pets are allowed on

The Skydeck: You can bring your pet to the Skydeck as long as it is leashed or carried in a carrier. You will need to buy a ticket for yourself and your pet at the ticket office on the lower level of the tower. The ticket price for pets is $25, which includes a souvenir photo of you and your pet on The Ledge.

The Lobby: You can also bring your pet to the lobby of the tower, where you can find a gift shop, a café, and a museum. Your pet must be leashed or carried in a carrier at all times.

If you want to go to the Skydeck with your pet, you will need to use a separate elevator that goes directly from the lower level to the 103rd floor.

The Restaurants: You cannot bring your pet to any of the restaurants in the tower. These include The Metropolitan Club on the 66th and 67th floors, which is a private club for members only; The Signature Room on the 95th floor, which is an upscale restaurant with panoramic views; and The Signature Lounge on the 96th floor, which is a cocktail bar with live music.

Some general tips

Plan ahead: Before you visit the Willis Tower with your pet, make sure you check the weather forecast and plan accordingly. The Skydeck can get very cold or very hot depending on the season and time of day. You may want to bring some water and snacks for yourself and your pet, as well as some extra layers of clothing or blankets.

Be respectful: When you visit the Willis Tower with your pet, be respectful of other visitors and staff. Keep your pet under control and do not let it bark or disturb anyone. Clean up after your pet if it makes a mess. Follow any instructions or rules given by the security or staff.

Have fun: Most importantly, have fun with your pet at the Willis Tower! It is a unique experience that you and your furry friend will remember for a long time.

Flora & Fauna

The Willis Tower may not seem like a place where you can find flora and fauna, but it actually has some surprising features that make it more eco-friendly and attractive to wildlife. For example:

The tower has a green roof that covers more than 22,000 square feet (2,000 square meters) of the 90th floor. The green roof is planted with native grasses and flowers that help reduce stormwater runoff, lower the temperature of the building, and provide habitat for birds and insects.

The tower has a bird-safe design that minimizes the risk of bird collisions with the windows. The windows have a special coating that reflects ultraviolet light, which is visible to birds, but not to humans. This helps the birds avoid flying into the glass and injuring themselves.

The tower has a beekeeping program that supports local honey production and pollination. The tower hosts six beehives on the 104th floor, which are maintained by a professional beekeeper. The bees produce about 200 pounds (90 kilograms) of honey per year, which is used by the restaurants in the tower and sold as souvenirs.

Taking Care of your Dog

If you have a dog, you know how important it is to take good care of it. Here are some tips on how to keep your dog healthy and happy:

Feed your dog a balanced diet that meets its nutritional needs. Choose a high-quality dog food that is appropriate for your dog's age, size, and activity level. Avoid giving your dog human food, especially chocolate, grapes, onions, garlic, and anything with artificial sweeteners or caffeine.

Provide your dog with fresh water at all times. Make sure your dog has access to clean water throughout the day, especially after exercise or in hot weather. Change the water regularly and wash the bowl often.

Exercise your dog regularly. Dogs need physical activity to stay fit and prevent boredom and behavioral problems. Depending on your dog's breed and personality, you may need to walk your dog for 30 minutes to an hour every day, or play fetch, tug-of-war, or other games with it. You can also take your dog to a dog park or a dog-friendly beach where it can socialize with other dogs and run freely.

Groom your dog regularly. Dogs need grooming to keep their coat, skin, nails, ears, and teeth healthy and clean. Depending on your dog's coat type, you may need to brush your dog daily or weekly, or take it to a professional groomer every few months. You should also trim your dog's nails every month or so, check its ears for dirt or infection every week, and brush its teeth every day or at least once a week.

Visit your veterinarian regularly. Dogs need regular check-ups and vaccinations to prevent diseases and parasites. You should take your dog to the vet at least once a year for a routine exam and any necessary shots. You should also consult your vet if you notice any signs of illness or injury in your dog, such as vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, sneezing, limping, scratching, or loss of appetite.

Taking Care of your Cat

If you have a cat, you know how independent and curious it is. Here are some tips on how to take good care of it:

Feed your cat a balanced diet that meets its nutritional needs. Choose a high-quality cat food that is appropriate for your cat's age, size, and activity level. Avoid giving your cat human food, especially chocolate, grapes, onions, garlic, and anything with artificial sweeteners or caffeine.

Provide your cat with fresh water at all times. Make sure your cat has access to clean water throughout the day, especially after exercise or in hot weather. Change the water regularly and wash the bowl often.

Provide your cat with a litter box and clean it daily. Cats are very clean animals and need a litter box where they can do their business. You should provide your cat with a litter box that is large enough for it to turn around in comfortably, and fill it with enough litter to cover the bottom. You should scoop out the waste every day and change the litter completely every week or so. You should also wash the litter box with mild soap and water every month or so.

Provide your cat with toys and scratching posts. Cats need mental stimulation and physical activity to stay happy and prevent boredom and behavioral problems. You should provide your cat with various toys that appeal to its natural instincts of hunting, chasing, pouncing, and batting. You should also provide your cat with scratching posts where it can sharpen its claws and mark its territory. This will help prevent your cat from scratching your furniture or carpets.

Groom your cat regularly. Cats need grooming to keep their coat, skin, nails, ears, and teeth healthy and clean. Depending on your cat's coat type, you may need to brush your cat daily or weekly, or take it to a professional groomer every few months. You should also trim your cat's nails every month or so, check its ears for dirt or infection every week, and brush its teeth every day or at least once a week.
